Babel was my way to say hello to NFT community as an upcoming artist. I wanted to make connections and friendships and give back something for that. So I invited crypto artists, collectors, community heroes to "move-in" to my artwork before I mint it. I asked a couple of questions, and they sent me one photo to edit into one of Babel windows. Day after day, more and more people joined Babel. I tweeted screenshots of newcomers so that neighbors could see new neighbors. Streets of Babel started filling in, and the artist started welcoming their new friends and communicating daily. Soon we opened neighbor's group chat which is now alive 24/7, buzzing with ideas and laughter. My artwork showing up on Twitter has become a unique way to form a community and connect with people.
As soon as I realised that Babel is not only an artwork but also has a social component, I was highly attracted by the idea. Connecting with virtual neighbours offers as many possibilities as in real life. Questions like this came to my mind: Who's up for fun and party? Will we support and help each other, even collaborate? Will the Babel community live on? I've already made some new friends in the neighbourhood, and I'm super curious to see where it all will lead.
And after 22 days, Babel now has 119 artists living in it, and soon, this page will be overtaken by this newly formed community. Find them on my artwork and follow for updates.
